2020 Vision Project is a collective of UK portrait photographers who
co-created a storytelling tribute to healthcare workers nationwide.
In March 2020, Brighton based photographer Sophie Sheinwald
put a call out on socials asking portrait photographers to join her on a mission to capture beautiful portraits of healthcare workers
BEHIND THE MASK outside of their healthcare environments.
100 photographers were chosen meet and photograph people working in this hardworking sector, to honour and show appreciation.
Together this became a reflection of dedication, resilience, teamwork
and extraordinary patient care throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
In September 2020, 100 portraits were exhibited in London, alongside touching personal accounts from each healthcare worker. The project also took part in online exhibitions for the NHS in 2021.
You can see the gallery for a more than 100 portraits behind the mask.
Thanks to all the photographers who participated. Special thanks to Annie Murray for joining the project to help it grow.

Pandemic
We still are unpacking the ripples created by the Covid-19 pandemic. It has altered lives and our way of living. The impact of the pandemic highlighted the great need of our healthcare workers for society.
And yet they are still overworked and under appreciated.
The fallout, healthcare professionals have left the field,
burned out from giving too much.
Something needs to change.
